如果正在覆盖现有系统，在您开始该方案之前，请从系统收集 TCP/IP 信息。
注意: 该过程要求关机并重新安装基本操作系统。在进行全新覆盖安装之前，请确保您已经拥有了数据和任何定制应用程序或卷组的可靠备份。
下列步骤向您说明如何使用系统内置的 CD-ROM 设备来执行全新覆盖基本操作系统的安装。
步骤 1 准备系统
必须有足够的可用磁盘空间和内存。AIX 5.2 需要 128 MB 内存和 2.2 GB 物理磁盘空间。
确保硬件安装是完整的，包括所有的外部设备。
如果系统需要和其它系统通信并访问它们的资源，则在进行安装之前请确保拥有以下工作表中的信息：

步骤 2 从 AIX 产品 CD 进行引导
1.把 AIX 卷 1 CD 插入 CD-ROM 设备。
2.确保连接到系统的所有外部设备（例如 CD-ROM 驱动器、磁带机、DVD 驱动器和终端）都是打开的。只有用来安装 AIX 的 CD-ROM 驱动器才应包含安装介质。
3.打开系统电源。
4.当系统发出两次蜂鸣声时，在键盘上按下 F5 键（或 ASCII 终端的 5 键）。如果您有图形显示器，在发出蜂鸣声时您会在屏幕上看到键盘的图标。如果您有 ASCII 终端（也称为 tty 终端），在发出蜂鸣声时您会看到 keyboard 这个词。
5.按 F1 键（或者 ASCII 终端的 1 键）并按下 Enter 键来选择系统控制台。
6.在 Choice 字段中输入 1 来选择英语作为基本操作系统（BOS）安装菜单的语言。按下 Enter 键打开 Welcome to Base Operating
System Installation and Maintenance 屏幕。

步骤 3 设置和验证 BOS 安装设置

3.在 Choice 字段中输入 3 选择安装 Install 64-bit Kernel and JFS2 并按下 Enter 键。
4.如果设置完成后输入9并按Enter键就返回到Installation and Settings画面。

6.按下 Enter 键开始 BOS 安装。安装过程中，由安装状态的提示。屏幕会自动提示已经使用了多少时间（以分钟表示），安装任务已经完成了多少（以百分比表示）。在安装完成之后，系统自动重新引导。
步骤 4 在安装后配置系统
1.在具有图形显示器的系统上，“配置助手”会在全新覆盖安装之后打开。在具有 ASCII 显示器的系统上，“安装助手”会在全新覆盖安装之后打开。
2.选择接受许可证选项以接受操作系统的电子许可证。
3.设置日期和时间、设置管理员（root 用户）密码并配置网络通信（TCP/IP）。
此时可使用任何其它的选项。通过在命令行输入 configassist 或 smitty assist 可以返回到“配置助手”或“安装助手”。
4.选择退出配置助手并选择下一步。或者，按下 F10（或 ESC+0）以退出“安装助手”。
5.如果在使用“配置助手”，那么选择立即完成，并且重新启动 AIX 时不要启动“配置助手”，然后选择完成。
这时，BOS 安装就完成了，系统的初始配置也完成了。
